Working on a lighter palette today, the second fur vest I am using is a cable-knit vest with fur collar.
The pieces that I’ll be working with will include a sweater, cream pants, faux snake-skin belt, studded bracelet, and a studded bag.
When I first laid my eyes on this Zara sweater, I liked it instantly; adoring the blue/brown combination. When I tried it on, it reminds quite quickly of a similar leather top from 3.1 Phillip Lim. I ended up buying this sweater a couple of sizes up as I enjoy the slight bagginess of the fall.
With the vest on, it still works with the blue/mocha (brown) combination.
Tips to take along when shopping for a fur vest:
- Fabric – faux fur is usually synthetic, so you want to make sure that it looks like good quality, soft, not prickly, and doesn’t leave fuzz on your clothes
- Length – falls anywhere between your waist to hips for more options in styling; for anything longer, note that you’ll need to style it accordingly to ensure that you’re not consumed by the vest
- Colour – keep it simple to the natural colours, avoid colors e.g. red, blue, purple, green, etc (you don’t want to end up looking like a cookie monster!)
- Size: fur by nature is rather chunky, so if it doesn’t work for your body type, look for something with a mix fabric such as knit or suede
