S/S 2012 Challenge #24: Techno Tropics

“From graphic Hawaiian florals at Altuzarra to Peter Pilotto’s hothouse stems, kaleidoscopic prints reign supreme.” net-a-porter

We’ve uncovered some major drama this season. Oversize. High voltage brights. Bold.

Then, we talked about major prints printing of all kinds. Flowers, Marine, Tropicals, and what have you. I’m going marine today.

For trends I fancy but am not sure if it’ll last past this season, contemporary brands are a good solution.

I  totally fell in love the minute I set eyes on this what I’d describe as an umbrella-sculpted printed dress. So dainty yet so chic just on its own. It has this amazing shape that flatters the body so beautifully. The natural marine print that gradually goes from light to dark is so nicely done. Go Zara!

If you like the umbrella-sculpted dress but not wish to spend on a dress you get little wear out of, an alternative could be pairing them with separates – see the post pairing a puffy skirt with a tank to create a similar feel.

One of my fav looks. I always thought the frump factor with a printed frock ala Mad Men is hard to pull off but you changed. Add edgy heels+directional purse for magic ingredients. Thanks for sharing the secret!
